This is a well written and highly readable book on an important subject.

It is an inevitable feature of the Information Age that Information Warfare will develop. To counter IW we need to look at security. Before you can sensibly consider Information Warfare and Security you need a clear understanding about the subject. It is instructive to realise that arguably the very first use of a programmable machine was for information warfare. I refer, of course, to Colossus and the wartime work of Station X. Not only did it seriously breach the opposition's security but extreme measures (including sometimes forgoing the use of information that would have saved lives) were taken to protect even knowledge of its existence.

In this book Dorothy Denning leads us through a wide panoply of computer security related problems with copious real life examples.

If you are interested in or need to know about information security this book will quickly bring you up to speed. While this book is US based and so has a North American bias its contents are just as appropriate to the European based reader.

This is a well written and highly readable book on an important subject. The author writes with justified authority.
